Tip for the Day: Book Now for Epic Fun in 2018

Momservation: If I was single, and BottleRock was a person, I would marry it.

Good news!

Turns out I am cool enough for BOTTLEROCK!

I know this was keeping you up at night, so you can go ahead and relax now…

Seriously, though, EVERYONE needs to go to BottleRock. This 3-day music festival in Napa Valley is my new crush. It does not disappoint for any age group.

Where do I begin to describe its fabulousness?! How about with this video I created from memories collected over the weekend (set to MY TYPE by BottleRock featured band Saint Motel):

Here’s my quick take-away: Great venue to see great artists with great food and drinks in a fun, friendly atmosphere!

My daughter and her friend chillin on the blanket at the JAM Cellar stage

Bonus: Weather was perfect for this opening weekend of summer. Sunny and warm with a cool breeze to keep it from getting too hot. A sweatshirt was enough for when the sun went down.

I was worried about traffic and parking—not an issue.

Was worried about driving back and forth between Napa and Sacramento each day because there wasn’t even a treehouse to rent in the Napa Valley—wasn’t bad. Only an hour and 15 minutes with surprisingly very little traffic.

Was worried I was going to be a middle-aged mom just trying to enjoy her jams in a sea of half-naked, wasted and wild twenty-somethings—not at all! I was surrounded by my people! Just a bunch us, teens to grandmas, wanting to set our blankets down on the grass with a cool beverage, yummy eats, and a full day of great music.

Like 40,000 of us, anyway (each day).

The Fam

Held just outside of Downtown Napa at the Napa Valley Expo, the easy to navigate grounds hosted world-class music on four stages with 80+ bands (Foo Fighters, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, and Maroon 5 headlining but SO many other great bands!). The main stage, the JAM Cellar stage had 2 huge jumbo screens and an expansive grass area making any place a good place to throw down your blanket as a home base or just stick it and kick it. There was also a more intimate JAM pad where artists would stop by and play a few licks (saw Michael Franti up close playing his new release, Summertime Is In Our Hands), celebrity and celebrity chef performances on the culinary stage (i.e. Martha Stuart and Macklemore—classic!), delicious gourmet food from the Napa Valley’s finest chefs and restaurateurs (the paella was the yummiest value but also had some killer sliders and burgers), dozens of wine cabanas where you can sip, savor and mingle with your favorite vintners, craft beer, specialty cocktails, lemonade and water filling stations offer other drinking options, a spa, silent disco (hilarious!), plus lots of freebies (Dove chocolates!).

with friends

I danced. I sang to old favorites. I shimmied to new hits. I ate. I drank. I people watched.  I laid flat on my back with the sun on my face bobbing my foot to the music all around me. I met up with old friends. I made new friends on the blankets surrounding mine. I took my husband’s advice to “Just go with it,” and had an amazing time letting BottleRock initiate me into the music festival scene.

BottleRock and I are going to be BFF’s from now on, I just know it.

If you want to be in our posse, word of advice: Book your accommodations now for May 25-27, 2018. It’s already slim pickings. Then buy your 3-day pass when they go on sale in December (even only knowing the headliners—trust me, it will be fabulous). Single day passes will go on sale in February when they announce the full lineup. BottleRock has sold out every year.

Yippy! We’re going to have so much fun next year!
