Momservation: If Christmas doesn’t make you want to sing “Jingle Bells” at the top of your lungs in a circle of friends with your fingers sticky with candy cane then you’re not doing it right.
☺ ☺ ☺
Dip me in peppermint and pine, cover me with tinsel, crank up the “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” and watch me groove—it’s Christmastime!
If you think you love Christmas more than me than I’ll give up my Over-Decorators Anonymous membership card. If you think you can 12 Days of Christmas me to the death—you might want to kiss your loved ones goodbye. If you think you’ve got the best holiday light display and festival this side of the Mississippi…
Okay, wait. I don’t think my front yard blow-up snowmen and 40 foot redwood tree lit up only to the height of a six foot ladder is going get me bragging rights.
That title belongs to the most spectacular holiday light festival that just showed up in Sacramento this Christmas season:
If you don’t believe me then just drive down Business 80 toward Exposition Boulevard tonight and glance over at Cal Expo. The brilliant light feast for the eyes is enough to tear a teenager away from their smart phone to say:
“OMG! What is THAT? Can we go Mom? Please?!”
Really. My two teenagers really did look up from their phones long enough to say that.
And I said:
“Does Santa fart “Jingle Bells”? Heck ya!”
And, man, was it way cool. Or as my teenagers said, “Hecka tight!”
If you want to feel like a kid again, pulling into the parking lot on the West side of Cal Expo to see the awe-inspiring illuminated landscapes from around the world towering from behind the spectacularly lit entry, will cause your stomach to flip with excitement to take a closer look.
And Global Winter Wonderland won’t disappoint. From the “snow” falling around a 3-story illuminated Christmas tree, to the human-size glowing flower garden fronting the majestic White House, to the giant light-fantastic peacock and awesomely huge glowing dragons—this is a light display that begs for a camera and refuels adult imaginations.
And the kids! Oh my heavens the little kids will LOVE it! Because not only does Global Winter Wonderland have an orgasmic light display—it’s also a carnival! There’s a Christmas train, and pop-a-wheelie motorcycles, and a Minion ride, and cotton candy, and funnel cakes, and, well, little kids will think they’ve arrived in Santa’s village—because they can talk and get a picture with Santa too!
But let’s not forget that Christmas isn’t just for kids! There’s international food offerings, a main stage with Circus of Light performers doing amazing feats of contortion and skill, and thrill rides that include a Ferris Wheel with an unbelievable illuminated panoramic view—perfect opportunity for a magical smooch on a date or parents’ Date Night!
Okay, okay, you’re sold! Here’s the deets (teenage for “details”):
