The children have headed back to school<\/font><\/p>\n

After a week of Spring Break fun<\/font><\/p>\n

Who’s going to clean up this post Easter mess?<\/font><\/p>\n

Looks like stay-at-home mom is the one.<\/font><\/p>\n

<\/font><\/p>\n

<\/font><\/p>\n

<\/font><\/p>\n

But if I’m left to put this house<\/font><\/p>\n

Into the order it was before<\/font><\/p>\n

I think I should be rewarded<\/font><\/p>\n

With some holiday candy for my chore.<\/font><\/p>\n

<\/font><\/p>\n

<\/font><\/p>\n

<\/font><\/p>\n

Dozens of opened plastic eggs<\/font><\/p>\n

Reunited with their other half?<\/font><\/p>\n

“That’ll cost two dozen jelly beans!”<\/font><\/p>\n

I scarf up as I laugh.<\/font><\/p>\n

<\/font><\/p>\n

<\/font><\/p>\n

<\/font><\/p>\n

Spilled bubbles and chocolate finger prints<\/font><\/p>\n

Left for Mommy to wipe up?<\/font><\/p>\n

“Two Cadbury eggs and four Peeps!”<\/font><\/p>\n

That should be enough.<\/font><\/p>\n

<\/font><\/p>\n

<\/font><\/p>\n

<\/font><\/p>\n

Green and pink Easter grass<\/font><\/p>\n

Plastic strands disabling my vacuum?<\/font><\/p>\n

“Why not a peanut butter chocolate egg?”<\/font><\/p>\n

Found stashed in someone’s room.<\/font><\/p>\n

<\/font><\/p>\n

<\/font><\/p>\n

<\/font><\/p>\n

Sweeping up colorful foil wrappers and Nerds<\/font><\/p>\n

Scattered pebble candy playing hide and seek?<\/font><\/p>\n

“A half dozen or so speckled malted eggs!”<\/font><\/p>\n

They won’t notice for a week.<\/font><\/p>\n

<\/font><\/p>\n

<\/font><\/p>\n

<\/font><\/p>\n

Wet bathing suits and towels<\/font><\/p>\n

Easter dress and slacks discarded on the floor?<\/font><\/p>\n

“Seven chocolate crunch bunnies and eggs!”<\/font><\/p>\n

Plus maybe a few more.<\/font><\/p>\n

<\/font><\/p>\n

<\/font><\/p>\n

But as I reach for some Tums<\/font><\/p>\n

Suddenly groaning in distress<\/font><\/p>\n

“Come Halloween, Lord help me,” I say,<\/font><\/p>\n

“If they don’t clean up their mess.” <\/font><\/p>\n
