{"id":31079,"date":"2020-01-23T16:22:44","date_gmt":"2020-01-24T00:22:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.momservations.com\/?p=31079"},"modified":"2020-01-23T16:22:44","modified_gmt":"2020-01-24T00:22:44","slug":"you-know-its-love-when","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/momservations.com\/index.php\/2020\/01\/23\/you-know-its-love-when\/","title":{"rendered":"You Know It&#8217;s Love When&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Momservation: <\/strong>You know it\u2019s love when he\u2019ll smell Daisy Fresh until you remember to buy more Old Spice Pure Sport.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>&#x2665;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 &#x2665;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 &#x2665;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So Hubby and I are Empty Nesting hardcore now. It\u2019s been four months of getting used to this quieter nest and new routines. There are definitely perks:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A house that stays clean when you clean it<\/li>\n<li>Less laundry and food shopping with cheaper grocery bills<\/li>\n<li>Dinner for two is easier<\/li>\n<li>Your kids\u2019 day-to-day problems are no longer your problems<\/li>\n<li>You can walk around naked and don\u2019t have to lock the door<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>But reality has hit that unless we go visit our kids at school, we won\u2019t see them now for the next five months. And then it will only be one of them because the other one is staying at school this summer.<\/p>\n<p>Which means that after nearly 30 years together, it\u2019s like Hubby and I are dating again.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s true.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-30426\" src=\"https:\/\/momservations.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Trey-Kel-300x279.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"279\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We have so much time on our hands after work and on weekends that we find ourselves frequently asking, \u201cSo what should we do?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s been great slipping back into the role of dating each other. Coming up with new ways to have fun together. Revisiting things we used to enjoy doing together, just the two of us, or with friends.<\/p>\n<p>But it\u2019s more than just rediscovering that we still really like each other after all these years.<\/p>\n<p>With our world slowing back down from the warp-speed pace of raising kids, it\u2019s allowed me to notice something wonderful in the quiet details of our lives:<\/p>\n<p>This guy still really loves me.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes it\u2019s not the grand gestures in a relationship that remind you how much someone loves you. It\u2019s the subtle moments of genuine care and affection, done without reward or even realization, that make a person feel truly loved.<\/p>\n<p>I had one of those moments yesterday. One of those \u201cA-ha!\u201d moments where I thought: <em>You know someone really loves you when they do something like that<\/em>. I didn\u2019t want to forget the sweet gesture so I wrote it down. And then I realized I could write a lot more down, so I did.<\/p>\n<p>I decided to share them so others might be inspired to create their own lists. Because you might not be Empty Nesters yet, but it\u2019s coming. Then all you have left in that quiet house, hopefully, is the love that once filled it with children.<\/p>\n<p>Remind yourself of that love now so it won\u2019t be so hard to rediscover when your main source of conversation moves away.<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s on your list?<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s mine:<\/p>\n<p><strong>YOU KNOW IT\u2019S LOVE WHEN\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>He laughs and takes the long way home when you turn up the volume and say, \u201cThis is a fun song to sing at the top of your lungs!\u201d<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-31082\" src=\"https:\/\/momservations.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/birthday-donuts.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"275\" height=\"183\" \/><\/li>\n<li>He gets up early for work to go buy donuts to leave you for your birthday breakfast.<\/li>\n<li>He gets up early on Saturday to go get bacon and eggs so he can make you a traditional weekend breakfast.<\/li>\n<li>He doesn\u2019t just bring the paper to the porch before he leaves for work, but puts it in the door handle so you don\u2019t even have to bend over to get it.<\/li>\n<li>He puts up all your pain-in-the-butt outdoor Christmas decorations because he knows how much you love Christmas.<\/li>\n<li>He lets the dog have his spot in bed a little longer at bedtime so the two of you can finish snuggling together.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-31080\" src=\"https:\/\/momservations.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/dog-snuggling.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"275\" height=\"183\" \/><\/li>\n<li>He never says no when you ask him if he can stop by the store on his way home from work.<\/li>\n<li>He doesn\u2019t make you move from his favorite spot on the couch.<\/li>\n<li>He lets you pick the movie every time.<\/li>\n<li>He brings you lottery scratchers when you are sad.<\/li>\n<li>He lets you have the end of the steak.<\/li>\n<li>He turns on your side of the electric blanket so it\u2019ll be warm when you go to bed.<\/li>\n<li>He never complains when you spend way too much on flowers at the garden center.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-31084\" src=\"https:\/\/momservations.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/car-full-of-flowers.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"225\" \/><\/li>\n<li>He always says, \u201cI know you wouldn\u2019t have bought it if it wasn\u2019t\u201d when you tell him what a great deal your shopping items were.<\/li>\n<li>He patiently lets you show him all the cute things you bought when he doesn\u2019t really care.<\/li>\n<li>He just chuckles and settles in when you give him the long version of the story once again.<\/li>\n<li>He thinks all your mom\u2019s funny sayings are cute too.<\/li>\n<li>He lets you shower first so you don\u2019t have to be the one to squeegee the shower.<\/li>\n<li>He washes your car after he\u2019s done his.<\/li>\n<li>He\u2019ll do errands with you because he even enjoys that time spent together.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>#EmptyNesting\u00a0 #YouKnowItsLove\u00a0 #SubtleMoments<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s not the grand gestures but the small moments.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":31082,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2511],"tags":[1794,2461,86,5,2634,2635,2636],"class_list":["post-31079","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-empty-nesting","tag-dating-your-spouse","tag-empty-nesting","tag-kelli-wheeler","tag-momservations","tag-perks-of-empty-nesting","tag-small-moments-vs-grand-gestures","tag-you-know-its-love-when"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>You Know It&#039;s Love When... - Kelli M.
