Teach a girl to never back down and she gets respect for a lifetime.<\/h4>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0\u263a\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u263a\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u263a<\/h4>\n<h4>You don\u2019t win the war by skipping training exercises.<\/h4>\n<h4>I\u2019m all for recognizing women\u2019s contributions to society for International Women\u2019s Day, but I don\u2019t think #DayWithoutAWoman is the best way to go about this.<\/h4>\n<h4>First of all, you\u2019d need more than a day for this impact to truly be felt\u2014just ask a dad who\u2019s had to take care of the kids for Mom\u2019s Girls Getaway weekend. First night they think they\u2019re all\u2014<i>Oh yeah, I got this<\/i>:<\/h4>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"giphy-embed\" src=\"\/\/giphy.com\/embed\/hgmzdJANjoST6?html5=true\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/giphy.com\/gifs\/smug-hgmzdJANjoST6\">via GIPHY<\/a><\/p>\n<h4>After 48 hours your phone starts blowing up with texts\u2014<em>When you comin home, Baby?<\/em>\u2014trying to sound sweet but they\u2019re like:<iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"giphy-embed\" src=\"\/\/giphy.com\/embed\/xT5LMGwHjH36jEgO2s?html5=true\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/giphy.com\/gifs\/season-7-the-walking-dead-trailer-xT5LMGwHjH36jEgO2s\">via GIPHY<\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Second of all, why are we asking women to take the financial hit as workers and business owners by not coming into work or shutting down our businesses for a day? Wouldn\u2019t it be more effective to dock men\u2019s paychecks the hours lost if we had not shown up (converted, of course, to equivalent male salary)?<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"giphy-embed\" src=\"\/\/giphy.com\/embed\/LiOfvTGjU3cnS?html5=true\" width=\"480\" height=\"352\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/giphy.com\/gifs\/LiOfvTGjU3cnS\">via GIPHY<\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Or better yet, dictate what they can and can\u2019t do with their own bodies, like \u201cNo ejaculation without intent for procreation.\u201d Now that would really get their attention&#8230;<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"giphy-embed\" src=\"\/\/giphy.com\/embed\/QB78LMb32YqoE?html5=true\" width=\"480\" height=\"326\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/giphy.com\/gifs\/sad-crying-james-van-der-beek-QB78LMb32YqoE\">via GIPHY<\/a><\/p>\n<h4>The point is, it\u2019s becoming increasingly evident it will be women who are going to save the world from this free-fall sooner than we think and we need to be prepared for it. Today, International Women\u2019s Day, should be pausing in battle to take stock of the strides we as women have made and the gains in rights and equalities around the world we continue to rapidly secure. Today should be about acknowledging that we will persist to press forward, refusing to back down on the respect and equality we deserve.<\/h4>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"giphy-embed\" src=\"\/\/giphy.com\/embed\/lnKYss91dwHqo?html5=true\" width=\"480\" height=\"480\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/giphy.com\/gifs\/female-model-lnKYss91dwHqo\">via GIPHY<\/a><\/p>\n<h4>You don\u2019t take your toys and climb out of the sandbox when you\u2019re pushed. You push forward and re-draw the line in the sand.<\/h4>\n<h4>It was my 15 year-old daughter who best illustrated this point when she was three years old\u2014destined to join the ranks of strong women making a difference by refusing to back down.<\/h4>\n<h4>She was playing in a sandbox with two boys, one four and one six years old\u2014the oldest one nearly double her size. It looked like the boys were having fun in their corner of the sandbox so she asked, \u201cCan I play with you guys?\u201d<\/h4>\n<h4>The younger boy looked to the oldest boy for direction. Instead of including her he stood up to sneer, \u201cNo! We don\u2019t want to play with <em>you<\/em>!\u201d And to make the point further, both boys turned their backs to her and kept playing.<\/h4>\n<h4>Shocked at the cruel exclusion for no apparent reason, I thought my daughter might cry at one of life\u2019s first harsh rejections. I thought she might jump up and run into the comforting safety of my embrace. I thought she might stop playing in the sand, wounded by the hostile environment.<\/h4>\n<h4>Instead, without hesitation, she grabbed her shovel and bucket and scooched herself over to join them. As the boys stared shocked at her bravado she announced: \u201cWell, I\u2019m going to play with you!\u201d<\/h4>\n<h4>She ignored their stunned faces and began digging in their corner of the sandbox. The boys, frozen in play, stared at this little girl who dared ignore the rules of their playground. Finally, they shrugged, none worse for wear, and joined her in play.<\/h4>\n<h4>That, ladies, is what our future looks like. You don\u2019t climb out of the sandbox and hope they notice.
