Momservation: <\/b>Summer is God\u2019s fountain of youth.<\/p>\n

\u263a\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u263a\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u263a<\/p>\n

After writing Momservations\u00ae for the last five years there\u2019s at least one thing I\u2019ve learned:<\/p>\n

You guys don\u2019t like to read during the summer (with exception of the Fifty Shades of Grey<\/a> summer).<\/p>\n

But, hey, that\u2019s okay. I don\u2019t take it personally. I\u2019m first and foremost here to entertain myself (the benefit of doing what you love for a living). And if we\u2019re being honest here: I don\u2019t really like writing a weekly blog in the summer.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s because I\u2019d rather be playing with my kids.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s also why I don\u2019t take it personally that readership drops in the summer\u2014because I hope it means you are all out too busy playing with your kids.<\/p>\n

So for those of you still reading I will give you my annual summer mantra to the tune of \u201cCat\u2019s in the Cradle\u201d<\/a>:<\/p>\n

Life is too short for regrets. Go play with your kids now. They don\u2019t get any younger.<\/i><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve only got five summers left with my kids before they fly the nest. Less really as the mother of teenagers who would rather hang out with their friends. It\u2019s gone by in a heartbeat.<\/p>\n

For those of you with young children drowning in a sea of \u201cMommy! Mommy! Watch me! Look at this! Mommy, play with me! Mommy! Did you see that? Look what I can do! Mommy? Mommy?\u201d\u2014I remember those days of needing a life ring and just a few quiet minutes in the bathroom.<\/p>\n

But listen. Listen closely. Hear it?<\/p>\n

It\u2019s fading. Mommy turns to Mom. Soon they don\u2019t crave your attention. They don\u2019t care about your approval. They don\u2019t need your presence. And then there is silence\u2014a childhood gone on a summer breeze like a sand castle blown grain by grain back into nothing more than an empty beach.<\/p>\n

God<\/i>, that\u2019s depressing isn\u2019t it?!<\/p>\n

So let\u2019s get back to our regularly scheduled program:<\/p>\n

Go cannonball those kids in the pool! Make popsicles from Hawaiian Punch! Go ride bikes, play mini-golf, play Hot Lava Monster at the park, make Cookie Brownie Surprises<\/a> in the kitchen, make a homemade Slip-n-Slide, walk to ice cream, get Slurpees anytime the temperature is over 100 degrees, go to the water park, go roller skating, ice skating, bowling\u2026<\/p>\n

Go play with your kids while you still have kids who want to play with you.<\/p>\n

But before you go\u2014watch a message from Kid President<\/a>, my favorite voice for being the best you can be, to help kids where summer means being hungry:<\/p>\n
